Interiors Inspiration {Art Deco}

There are little pockets in Sydney overflowing with beautiful art deco architecture and I must say I have always been quite partial towards it.

Our apartment building is an an art deco block, but has been completely re-vamped and modernised to the point you could only tell it was once art deco from the outside. A shame really, since art deco features are rather exquisite!

What do you have planned for the weekend lovelies? I am packing away my laptop and heading off for a weekend trip with hubby and Charlie (our gorgeous dog!) down to a little town on the South Coast of NSW. I plan to take lots of pictures and catch up on some magazine reading.

Have a lovely weekend!

Friday Fashion Notes {Olsen Style}

 Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen never fail to disappoint with their stylish and chic wardrobe choices.
Forget the boho-chic style they once made famous, now it's all about the glamour baby - love it!

P.S I updated my blog header last night (about time!), what do you think?

Interiors Inspiration {White}

e·the·re·al

1. light, airy, or tenuous: an ethereal world created through the poetic imagination.
2. extremely delicate or refined: ethereal beauty.

Loving: pure white interiors. Ethereal is one word that comes to mind when looking at these spaces. There is definitely a sense of refined beauty that comes from these images.

What do you think about a pure white decor - could you have this look in your home?

Interiors Inspiration {Feeling Blue}

The start of the working week is enough to make anyone feel blue, but hopefully these shades of blue will cheer you up.

I was going through our New York photos on the weekend and came across a shot taken of this stunning door which is from a townhouse on the Upper East side. It was such a gorgeous door I had to take a photo!

How was your weekend lovelies?

Oh So Lovely {A Neutral Palette}

Making a room appear bigger, or the desire to create a sense of peace and calm can be easily achieved by using a neutral palette.

I am instantly drawn to decors with a neutral palette as I love natural light, which is tends to be exaggerated in these spaces.

{Interiors Inspiration} Louis Vuitton

Coco Chanel famously said "Fashion fades, only style remains the same" which was clearly the philosophy used when creating these stunning interiors where Louis Vuitton luggage has been used to perfectly complement the space.

Forget using Louis Vuitton luggage for travel - they make a stylish decor accessory!

Had to throw this in - I cannot resist the LV Speedy tote, it is such a classic.

A Cottage Renovation Delight

I discovered this stunning renovation via The Style Files and was immediately smitten by how the architects transformed this 1904 farmhouse into a modern and stylish home, yet cleverly retained the original cottage feel.

Elements I adore:
  • Painted white floorboards
  • Black and white, mixed with neutral shades
  • French doors opening on to an outdoor entertaining area, allowing lots of light into the living and dining area
  • Chandelier-style light fitting in the dining room
  • Kitchen cupboards (!)
  • Blackboard in the kitchen
  • Hand basin faucet in the bathroom
  • Vintage bedside table
  • Wrought-iron bed frames
What is your favourite element?

Check out the rest of the amazing transformation {see the full project}.

Oh So Lovely: Vintage Inspiration

I love these vintage interiors; there is an overwhelming sense of comfort and homeliness associated with these shots. Simple things such as candles, flowers, pretty doilies, and cute tea cups can easily add a vintage feel to a space.

How was your Valentine's Day lovelies? I was spoilt rotten; I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful husband.

We went to see Valentines Day, and I must say it was fantastic! Extremely cheesy and romantic, but such delicious fun!

My kitchen: by day and by night

One of the things I wanted to do this year is was sharpen my photography skills. I have dabbled in photography fleetingly in the past and always loved it but never took the time to learn the craft properly.

So, having recently acquired a Canon 30D from a friend on an indefinite loan, I couldn't pass up the the opportunity to learn.

And what better way of learning than taking shots of our apartment, right?

The first shots I have taken are from our kitchen. We have a galley style kitchen with virtually no bench space, so overcome this problem we recently purchase a benchtop from Ikea, which has made a monumental improvement to the space.

It now means I have room to spread out when cooking and extra storage, which always comes in handy! On the other side we have 3 barstools that create an extra seating area and another 'zone' in the apartment.

Next up: the living area.

Hope you're having a fabulous weekend!

Friday Fashion Notes

Love the classic combination of black with beige. These skinny black pants with boots tucked in look fab!
Thigh high boots are definitely on my winter wishlist.
Wow, these women look like they are having the most amazing time together with such good friends! Plus they all look ridiculously stylish! Loving these cute brown booties on the left.
My favourite find of the week: this stunning Prada bag is to-die-for! The chocolate brown heels are equally lust-worthy.

Wishing you a most fabulous Friday lovelies!
