Oscars 2011 {lovely lilac & sparkly glamour}

Did you watch the Oscars red carpet today? I don't know about you but I really wasn't enamoured by many of the gowns. There were definitely a few that stood out though; here are my favourites...

{lovely lilac}

I thought Mila Kunis stole the show in her exquisite Elie Saab gown, fresh from the Spring/Summer 2011 collection, she looked so lovely.

I also loved Cate Blanchett's look in Givenchy Couture; very glamorous, yet understated and incredibly stylish.

{sparkly glamour}

Michelle Williams looked pretty in a sparkly Chanel gown and I adore her cute blonde pixie crop.

Halle Berry in a Marchesa crystal encrusted gown looked incredible; it's hard to believe she is 44!

What were your favourite Oscars looks?

Hello again

Hello lovelies! I wanted to say thank you for all of the sweet comments you left for me, it means so much that you are so supportive, and just knowing that I have a lovely community of friends who would be willing to wait until I came back is incredible.

It's been a stressful week, but I really did miss blogging, so I've decided to do whatever it takes so I can keep writing this blog.
Something I have been reminded of late is that anything is possible even if it doesn't seem so straight away. I think this Audrey quote sums it up perfectly.

Little Break

Hello friends, I hope you have had a lovely weekend. I have received some news that means I won't be able to blog for the next little while; so I will be excusing myself and taking an indefinite break.

I hope I will still be able to come by and visit your blogs, but if not I hope you can understand.

I want to take a minute to thank anyone who has ever stopped by this little blog and if you have left a comment, you can be sure you brightened my day.

Thank you dear readers for making this blog fun to write and allowing me to share it with you.

Wednesday Workspace {Pretty & Pink}

You may have already seen Emily from Cupcakes and Cashmere’s beautiful home on Apartment Therapy, but I couldn’t resist dedicating a post about her fabulous pink workspace.

Emily has created the loveliest haven for herself to work in. The minimalist approach she has used to decorate is evident but the pieces she has added to really define her style - the très chic lamp, the ridiculously gorgeous love seat, the cow hide rug and gold Moroccan pouffe - all add the perfect amount of personality.

I would never normally be a fan of pink walls, but I think it works beautifully with Emily's styling choices - what do you think?

See the full house tour here.

Hello Yellow

Ahh, another grey day in Sydney, despite it being the middle of summer! I'm craving some happy spaces to lift my spirits and  thought yellow would be the perfect colour to brighten things up; don't you agree?

Happy Tuesday friends!

Happy {Love} Day!

Hello my dears, Happy Love day to you!

Hubs and I are not that big on Valentine's day, but we did have a little celebration yesterday with a gourmet picnic that was organised by the lovely Natalie and Simon from The Sydney Picnic Company. We were lucky enough to receive this as a gift for our wedding; would you believe we hadn't even used it until now!?
The concept is rather fun; you let them know where you are having a picnic and they deliver you a hamper filled with the most delicious spread of gourmet food. Even though it was pouring with rain and hubs and I were huddled under an umbrella with Charlie running around getting soaked, we were blissfully happy to be there together enjoying each other's company. The perfect Valentine's day, and very 'us'.

So, if you are like me and don't really believe in the hoo-haa around Valentine's day but still want to do something a little fun then you will love this... A Valentine's Couch picnic for a night in with you and your honey...

Too sweet right? Download the goodies here.

Wishing you lots of love on this Valentines Day my dears,

P.S I do normally post 5 Lovely Things on a Monday which has been in hiatus for a couple of weeks*, but I promise it will be back next week!
*Life got the better of me on this one and I'm not the organised blogger I should be :)

Valentines' inspired tablescape

I have long been a fan of the blog Dreamy Whites where Maria shares her heavenly 'French farmhouse inspired living'. Her latest project is a beautiful Valentines' inspired tablescape which blends the right amount of romance with French antique touches.

To hold the flowers (only pink and white flowers were chosen), Maria used antique French labelled jars as vases and antique French yellow ware, that were once used as jam pots.

Lovely vintage French music cards were added decoratively as a gift for guests, while antique French documents were used as a placemats.

So lovely, yes?
Check out the rest of Maria's shoot here.

And for a double-dose of French loveliness, Maria also has an online store filled with lots of gorgeous homewares - definitely worth a visit! Take a peek here.

Happy Thursday my dears!

Wednesday Workspace

Hello my dears, is it Friday yet? No, but thank goodness its hump day today. This week has been incredibly hectic at work so it feels like it should be Friday already!

You may recognise today's workspace; it is from the home designed and decorated by Swedish couple Marie Olsson Nylander and her husband, Bill.

Elements such as the lighting, lucite chairs, and even the waste bin give this space a fabulous modern/eclectic/industrial feel that I am seriously loving.

See the rest of this incredible home here.

Wishing you a fabulous Wednesday my dears!

Shades of {Blush}

Inspired by the dreamy Elie Saab Spring collection I've been lately loving the soft shades of blush. So feminine and pretty, yet sophisticated and chic at the same time.

Hope your week is off to a brilliant start lovelies.

Happy weekend & lovely links

Happy weekend friends! It is so hot in Sydney right now, keeping cool is the only thing on my mind!

I have a fun weekend ahead seeing family and friends, plus some time at the beach and catching up on blog reading! What are your plans lovelies?

Here are a few lovely things that caught my eye this week;

* This back to school dessert feature is adorable.

* Elena at Pretty Light has designed this gorgeous February calendar to download.

* I loved the latest issue of Ivy & Piper; the interview & tour of Diane Bergeron's studio is a must see.

* Shannon, from one of my favourite blogs, The Simply Luxurious Life now has a column in Laura U, a new online magazine I only just discovered!

* Kelly Wearstler has just launched a new blog, My Vibe My Life.

Charlie & I also guest posted this week on the fun dog-lovin' blog, Pretty Fluffy; pop on over to take a peek!

February Style

Happy February dear friends! I can't believe we are in the second month of 2011 already; how quickly January flew. It is super hot in Sydney right now and whilst we're experiencing a heatwave, it's hard to believe that in Queensland they're preparing for a cyclone to hit and getting over the devastation of the floods. We're thinking of you Queensland.

In the past week we have been spoilt with all of the latest online glossies launching. Matchbook launched its fabulous first issue; the third issue of Adore Magazine came out over the weekend; plus  Rue launched its latest issue, featuring the amazing home of Nicole Cohen. And of course, I'm eagerly anticipating tomorrow's launch of High Gloss!

Here's a few things I'm loving lately...

{one} The Naked & Famous - this album is in high rotation for me at the moment; loving their song 'Young Blood' which is in the latest ad for Strong Bow.

{two} Coach Poppy Legacy Stripe Heart Locket key ring - such a cute key ring; would make a lovely Valentines Day present!

{three} Inside Out - Their latest issue is out tomorrow and looks amazing as always!

{four} I spied these fun Palm print cushions over at Louise's blog, the perfect cushions to compliment hot summer days!

{five} It's definitely beach weather and this Zimmerman bikini is divine; view their full Summer 2011 campaign here.

{six} Glasshouse Bordeaux Vanilla Noir candle - this triple scented candle smells incredible and leaves the most lovely lingering Vanilla scent.

Hope your February is off to a smashing start!
