House tour :: for the love of gingham {and leopard!}

Have you read the latest issue of Matchbook yet? If not, I seriously think you need to immediately! I don't know about you, but each month I think Matchbook keeps getting better and better. 

My favourite feature in this month's issue was Editorial Director, Katie Armour's 

San Francisco home which she describes as a "mess of everything I love".

I really love that Katie didn't stick to one style, but rather mixed pieces she loved that somehow came together to create this modern, stylish home that oozes with personality. Her clever "mess" of bold colours, textures and fabrics all work together in mis-matched harmony and make it incredibly unique.

After this I think I'm going to be just slightly obsessed with gingham!

Modern Italian Beachhouse

Stylist Annette Jackson had her amazing Italian beach house featured over at Design Sponge and I was immediately drawn to the moody neutral and grey colour palette mixed with pops of orange and blue. 

I'm not normally a fan of traditional beach house style, but was pleasantly surprised by the modern take that Annette has made...

 

 

I love the way several different textures have been used throughout the home, like the stone wall and glass doors (below in the guest bedroom) and the entry way with the chalkboard wall (above) - this adds so much intrigue!

I adore the twin marble basin and the open shelving in the bathroom.

The marble theme has been carried through to the kitchen which perfectly complements the stainless steel and birch wood. The stand out for me in the kitchen are the statement lights that hang above the island bench - Annette had these specially shipped over from the US! Love!

Interiors Inspiration: Thomas Hamel

When I discovered the portfolio of Sydney based interior designer Thomas Hamel, I was captivated by how awe-inspiring his creations are.

Hamel originally trained in New York and has worked on interiors projects all around the globe, but now considers Sydney home.

I adore the distinct modern flavour in his work, yet he manages to ensure a timeless elegance prevails - one that will never go out of style.
