Monochromatic style musings

There is something about monochromatic style that I can never get enough of. I love how each of these ladies have shown that monochromatic doesn't necessarily translate to boring. In fact, I think it quite the opposite - would you agree?

If only these pieces would find there way into my closet...Especially those fabulous booties!

Happy Thursday lovelies!

Wednesday Workspace {minimalist black + white}

As you know I can never resist a black and white combination, so today's workspace immediately grabbed by attention! I'm loving that there is zero room for clutter and that everything is neatly organised on those shelves + boxes.

I also really like this style of calendar. Its size means not only is it easy to read (AKA plan from afar with ease), it also doubles as art, which works well given the minimalist style of the room. The calendar is by Stendig + you can buy them online here.

Happy 4th of July to my US friends!

Side by side :: Black + White

Happy Monday lovelies! I had a great weekend and got a chance to catch up on my glossy reading, which included the latest issue of Lonny. I was thrilled to see that two of the homes featured a black and white palette - but that was where the similarities ended, as they had each been decorated in completely opposing styles: the first a Malibu beach house and the second a chic NY apartment...

First up was the cape-cod style beach house, owned by designer and boutique owner, Tobi Tobin who has decorated her home beautifully with a mix of modern furniture and antiques + vintage finds... I would be impossible not to feel uplifted + inspired waking up and staring at that incredible view every day...

The second home was that of Laura + Diego Garcia, who successfully managed to fuse together modern elegance with an edgy flair. The result is a very glam + rock-chic apartment which complements both of their individual styles perfectly...

So, there you have it: two opposing styles both using the same colour palette; do you have a favourite?

Check out the rest of the issue here.

Happy Monday friends!

Wednesday Workspace {black + white}

There is much to love in this luxe workspace, featured in Celerie Kemble's book, Black + White (and a bit in between)

The oversized table lamp is incredibly glamorous + serves as the feature piece for the space; whilst the lovely decorative touches like the Hermes boxes and Classic Wedgwood Jasper vase + dish, add a subtle air of elegance + refinement.

So lovely, don't you think?

Wednesday Workspace {feminine chic}

I can never resist the combination of feminine chic and black and white, so I was excited when I came across the the workspace of illustrator Bernadette Pascua and fashion photographer, Andrew Stinson, who reside in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

So much to love about this space - the glamorous lamp, the black and white photography and the Victoria ghost chair.

See the rest of their gorgeous apartment here.

Wednesday Workspace {black & white}

Ever the fan of black and white, I adore the classic Scandinavian style of this workspace, easily recognizable by the neutral colour scheme, wooden furniture and floorboards.
Despite the size of this tidy work area, which has been conveniently tucked away in the corner of a bedroom, the pops of red gives this space the right amount of personality, don't you think?

Take a full tour of the apartment here.

I do love Wednesday Workspace posts because I know when I'm posting them the weekend is finally in sight. This week has been a bit crazy so I'm already counting down the days until Friday!

Wednesday Workspace {oh the glamour}

The latest issue of Adore Magazine features the newly revamped office of New York agency, Cameo PR. I was instantly drawn into the decadent glamour of the space, which has been predominately styled in black and white. The mix of old and new is evident with the stunning vintage tufted sofa, sourced from Craigslist, being the statement piece of the room. I love all of the details in the space including the beautifully styled shelf and the entry table. Hard to resist, don't you think?

On a side note - thank you so much for all of your beautiful comments yesterday - we had an incredible evening spoiling ourselves at one of our favourite restaurants, Toko

Happy hump day lovelies!

Happy weekend!

Happy weekend lovelies! It has been a long week so definitely looking forward to two days off. Do you have anything exciting planned? I have my good friends' baby shower, for which I will be baking these delicious blueberry crumble muffins - I have made them a few times and have always been a hit!
I think some retail therapy is also in order to stock up on some warm clothes; winter has definitely snuck up on us in Sydney.

On another note, I love these pretty postcards that Nichole over at Little Brown Pen has just added to her etsy store.

Have a glorious weekend friends,

Rachel xo

Black & White lovelies

Hello my dears, welcome to a brand new week! I hope you had a lovely weekend. Mine was spent catching up with my friend and her little boy and spending some time with hubby after his hectic work schedule, which was lots of fun.

As you know black and white is my favourite colour combination and these rooms have so many elements to love. Seriously impossible to resist, don't you think?

Happy Monday friends!

Wednesday Workspace {Black & White}

I can't get enough of black and white lately so when I stumbled on this workspace I had to post it.

The addition of green plants make a striking touch and and the black chair makes a real statement, don't you think?

I think its safe to say black and white is my favourite colour combination, even if by accident. Let me explain... I set out to decorate our own home using colour, really I did; but it has 'accidentally' evolved into a predominantly black and white theme.
I had originally been experimenting with different colours and looks but I kept reverting to black and white. When we first moved in I went bold, even painting our bedroom a deep blue/charcoal colour, but everything has since been re-painted white (!)

What can I say, even our wedding was a black and white theme, so really must be true love!

I will be sharing our home with you soon so stay tuned lovelies!

Happy Wednesday,

Wednesday Workspace {Black & White}

I was taking a trip down memory lane, flicking through the Lonny archives, when I stumbled across this impossibly glamourous black and white workspace, otherwise known as the Flair Interiors store in SoHo, NYC.

Designers George Nunno and Jon Maroto describe the space as "urbane, sexy and dark". I definitely agree; the artwork, glossy black furnishings and lighting all make this space effortlessly fabulous!

Happy hump day my dears,

House Tour {Bedroom}

Hello lovelies! As promised I have some shots for you of our bedroom. It's still a work in progress, hence the vignette-style shots, but it's starting to come together...

You may remember in this post that the bedroom room actually started out a rather pretty shade of grey, but I since changed my mind about the colour - it was lovely but didn't go with our bed or other furniture! Rather than buy a new bed we decided to paint the walls white, a decision I am not regretting one bit, I am in love with the white.

Next on the list to fix up will be adding some artwork and finally putting up our curtains. I'm also considering some different draw knobs now that a whole black and white theme is going on. More pics soon!

Black & White {Glamour}

Happy Monday lovelies! How was your weekend? Mine was full to the brim with birthdays, lunches, dinner and everything in between!

There's nothing like a bit of glamour in life, especially in your decor. Black and white seems to always play a central role in glamorous rooms just like it has in Aerin Lauder's study {below} and this fabulous bedroom {bottom}.

This week I am lucky enough to have the week off work which I am dedicating to finally getting our apartment sorted. There were so many projects we started when we moved in that somehow lost momentum, but this week hubby and I will be tackling them. Black and white glamour is definitely part of the plan, mixed in with some neutral shades of beige. Can't wait!

Fingers crossed I will be able to share some of our projects with you at the end of the week.

A Danish Summer Escape

Whilst dreaming about a warm European Summer (anything to escape the cold which has descended onto Sydney), I came across this delightful Damish summer house which has most definitely lifted my spirits!

The glorious light that fills this home gives such a sense of warmth and the cool grey tones are heavenly and rather soothing.
The kitchen is just a delight - the pop of pink flowers are a lovely touch and I do fancy those industrial lamp shades!

How has your week been lovelies? Only more day till the weekend;
I can't wait.

Currently Coveting {Black & White Interiors}

I can't begin to tell you how much I adore black and white interiors.

The elegant simplicity is fabulous, don't you think?

Here are some interiors that have captured my attention recently...

On a side note, we are busy packing up our apartment and eagerly anticipating our big move. On the weekend we picked out paint colours, which is all making it seem very real.

I will have some pics for you in the coming weeks, I promise!
